Area Estimation with Subpixel Accuracy for Industrial Imaging Systems

چکیده

Industrial imaging systems used for product quality control often need to make an accurate estimation of an object's area. Usually the area is estimated by counting the number of pixels classied as belonging to the object. However, with a technique called decomposition, the number of pixels can be estimated more accurately at the same resolution, or as accurately at a lower resolution. Another way to reduce the hardware costs is to lower the spatial sampling rate. The negative eeects on the area estimation accuracy can be counteracted by reconstructing the original image using interpolation. In this paper, we present the results of two experiments using HP ScanJet 4c images in which the capabilities and limitations of decomposition and interpolation were assessed quantitatively. It appeared that the resolution could be lowered with a factor 25 without decreasing the accuracy of the estimation. A reduction of the sampling rate, on the other hand, could not be compensated for as well. However, interpolation did seem to restrict the decrease in accuracy somewhat, although the results were not entirely conclusive due to hardware related reasons.

Robust subpixel shift estimation using iterative phase correlation of a local region

In this paper, subpixel shift estimation method using phase correlation with local region is proposed for registration of noisy images. Commonly, phase correlation based on the Fourier shift property is used to estimate the shift between images. Subpixel shift of images can be estimated by the analysis for the phase correlation of downsampled images. However, in case of images with noise or ali...

Cropland distributions from temporal unmixing of MODIS data

Knowledge of the distribution of crop types is important for land management and trade decisions, and is needed to constrain remotely sensed estimates of variables, such as crop stress and productivity. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) offers a unique combination of spectral, temporal, and spatial resolution compared to previous global sensors, making it a good candidat...

An efficient spatial domain technique for subpixel image registration

In this paper a new technique for performing image registration to subpixel accuracy is presented. The proposed technique, which is based on the maximization of the correlation coefficient, does not require the reconstruction of the intensity values and provides a closed-form solution to the subpixel translation estimation problem. Moreover, an efficient iterative scheme is proposed, which redu...
